The Superhero Project uses creative thinking and the arts to inspire youth with special needs and serious illnesses. Families are interviewed about their child's greatest strengths and how they make the world a better place, and artists then design the superhero alter ego they describe, creating visual representations of the strength, courage and resilience of the children.

The interview offers families the opportunity to reflect on their children's best qualities and the final posters often serve as a source of pride and a social-emotional intervention tool, increasing self-esteem and providing a new way of communicating.
