The Coalition's founder, Marla Root, supports families by navigating health insurance and other advocacy needs. She also works with autism service providers through the Ohio Autism Insurance Coalition, state agencies, advocacy organizations, health insurers and regulators, educators, trade associations, and behavioral health and DD service providers. She has been involved in the autism community as a family accessing autism services for her son, an administrator for an autism service provider, and an advocate.

Services for families are free, while service providers pay a small fee to join the Coalition.
