Northeast Ohio Yes, You Can Dance! provides dance opportunities for adults 18 and older with intellectual, developmental, and/or physical disabilities an opportunity to enhance their physical and emotional well-being through social dance experiences. Participants will learn ballroom dancing in a safe and supportive atmosphere.
This program is a partnership with La Danse Cleveland and the successful special needs dance program, Yes, You Can Dance! (YYCD), established over 10 years ago.
The classes provide an opportunity for individuals with special needs to move to music, learn ballroom dance steps, interact with other dancers in a fun, inviting environment and experience a sense of accomplishment and the joy of dancing to music. While some research indicates there are benefits of dance for special needs individuals, this is not a therapy session but rather a chance for students to enjoy moving to fun music in a friendly environment.
