The Woodburne Library is offering an inclusive monthly program called Adaptive Adventures. It includes interactive, inclusive stories and activities for children with special needs and their families. Activities may include stories, songs, crafts, and games, and there is always plenty of play/social time. It is open to all ages and abilities from birth to teen. Check the Washington-Centerville Library Calendar of Events at https://events.wclibrary.info for information about upcoming sessions.
They host the program in a sensory friendly environment, with gentle, dimmable lighting, fidget toys, wobble cushions, and a visual schedule so that they know what to expect each time. They also partition off the other half of their community room and make it available as a quiet space where people can calm down if they're feeling overstimulated.
They are able to assist individuals with moderate needs and can accommodate Spanish-speaking families.
