Special Education Free Legal Clinic

The resources and information in the Milestones Autism Resources Center are meant to be a reference, and should not be considered comprehensive or an endorsement or recommendation of any providers, methodologies or services from any of the groups, agencies or companies listed. We urge you to make independent judgment when selecting a professional to assist you. We provide guiding questions to help you think through what is right for your situation.

The Special Education Legal Clinic offers parents and guardians an opportunity to meet with a special education advocate or attorney in an open and welcoming environment to ask questions and discuss specific challenges related to education. Clinic staff members and volunteers will help guide parents and guardians through the special education process and provide resources to request and secure special education services, including educational recovery services and/or extended learning needed because of the 2020-21 pandemic.

The Clinic is a public-private collaboration between three independent organizations, including Disability Rights Ohio, the Ohio Coalition for the Education of Children With Disabilities, and Albeit Weiker, LLP. The Clinic is staffed by volunteer attorneys, advocates, law students and interns.

The Clinic includes a group workshop followed by individual guidance sessions (both explained in detail below). Attendees may participate in-person or virtually.

Second Saturdays: The Clinic is open every second Saturday of the month from 9am to noon.

To attend a workshop or register for legal assistance, fill out the form on their website.
