Announcing the 2023-24 SPED Talk Series - Resources and conversation about special education
Join hosts Hickman Lowder special education attorney Janet F. Griffith and advocate Mary Jo O'Neill for a monthly webinar series that explores resources, sparks conversation, and empowers you with the tools and knowledge needed to advocate for your child at school.
This webinar's description:
It is often difficult for parents to decide whether to seek additional medical or educational assistance for their child. Is a behavior just a phase? What is causing a persistent stomachache? Are lagging academic skills worrisome?
Join us, along with staff from Disability Rights Ohio, as we discuss how to gauge your child’s behavioral, social-emotional, and academic well-being as well as when and where to go for help. We will share information about community resources such as Help Me Grow and the Developmental Disabilities Board. Finally, we will discuss the process for obtaining supports in school such as informal intervention and supports, 504 Plans, and Individualized Education Programs (IEP).
