Participants in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) will be given an admission price of $1 to local museums.
Through Museums for All, those receiving food assistance (SNAP benefits) can gain free or reduced admission to more than 1,000 museums throughout the United States simply by presenting their SNAP EBT (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Electronic Benefit Transfer) card.
In NE Ohio, museums include Cleveland Museum of Natural History, Cleveland Botanical Garden, Akron Art Museum, Akron Children's Museum, Akron Zoo, Ashland Historical Society, Canton Museum of Art, Holden Arboretum, Little Buckeye Children’s Museum in Mansfield, Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage, The Shaker Historical Society and Museum and Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens.
Museums for All is an initiative of the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), a federal agency based in Washington, DC. The initiative is administered by the Association of Children’s Museums through a cooperative agreement with IMLS.
